Learning Tips from the MES Team
• Learn by topic + collocation — e.g., call off a meeting; save up for a trip.
• Note register and variants — informal / neutral / formal; US vs UK differences.
• Watch separability — turn it off
(separable) vs look after her
(inseparable).
• Practice little and often — 5–10 minutes a day with spaced repetition.
“Learn phrases as chunks with their collocations — not as single words.”
